Boat ala Crib

This was definitely one of the more memorable storage days I’ve had.

Every 6 months or so we have to place my daughter’s outgrown clothes into storage. It has become more challenging since she has some sentimental favorites– graphic towels and tees, jelly shoes, fuzzy socks. I know better than to pick that battle and just let her be.

We unearthed a box that came with an Ipod speaker and inspired by such blogs as No Time for Flashcards, brainstormed a bit on what we could do with it. She immediately sat inside it and decided to make a boat.

Well, we intended to make a boat.

But it started off as a speaker box

Then it came out looking like a crib. So along those lines it can be a crib / stroller / grocery cart.

Giving in to the baby

If our creation survives tomorrow we’ll look for the right props to make it look like a boat.

What have you recycled into a fun toy?

I have a 3 year old daughter and a 1 year old son. My daughter is fond of playing doctor so sometimes she pretends that our cellphone charger is a stethoscope and my makeup remover are bandages for mr. bear’s injection site. Sam, my one year old, loves turning my decorative calla lily into trumpets. The trick is, keep my house’ design simple and child proof and keep my precious items out of reach of Sophie and Sam :) Chanced upon your site just today and I enjoy reading it. Keep it up :)
